The Red Sea in Egypt includes recreational diving sites such as Ras Mohammed, the SS Thistlegorm, Elphinstone Reef, the Brothers, Daedalus Reef and the Blue Hole. Ras Mohammed National Park has limitations on fishing, anchoring and the number of visitors allowed in certain areas. A diving medical examination or medical statement is mandatory. Diving is best from September to November. Green turtles, hawksbill turtles and nudibranchs are resident. Whale sharks are seen from May to August, scalloped hammerhead sharks from June to August, and oceanic whitetip sharks from October to December.
