Elphinstone Reef is a reef and wall dive site in Egypt, in the Red Sea. It is reached by boat or liveaboard, with depths ranging from 18 to 40 metres. The site is rated for advanced divers and has strong currents. It is known as one of the most reliable sites in the Red Sea for oceanic whitetip sharks, which are resident here. Giant trevally, great barracuda and humphead wrasse are also resident. Green turtles, hawksbill turtles, pelagic thresher sharks, scalloped hammerhead sharks, spinner dolphins and nudibranchs are occasionally seen. Reef manta rays are seasonal, seen from May to August. Best months for diving are September to November.
